July 29, 2023 marked ten years since a military judge reached a verdict in the Chelsea Manning court martial. Although the judge found Manning not guilty of “aiding the enemy” through “indirect means,” she did find Manning guilty under the Espionage Act and other criminal charges. For helping journalists expose US war crimes in Iraq and Afghanistan and the actions of the US State Department, Manning was sentenced to 35 years in prison.
