November Washington Memo
US Palestine activism isn't terrorism - but our public officials seem to have a hard time with that.
For paid Substack subscribers, we are offering you a special monthly Washington Memo. Straight from the desk of our esteemed policy director Chip Gibbons, it will offer you insights into what’s happening in Washington when it comes to defending your right to know and freedom to act. As always, we deeply appreciate your support. It makes our work possible.
As Israel’s violence against the Palestinians escalates, our government is aiding it in more ways than one. Not only are we arming Israel’s war machine, at home there is a McCarthyite campaign under way to smear and silence anyone who dissents against the slaughter.
Members of Congress are using the bully pulpit that elected office affords to push the DOJ to investigate student protesters and rescinded the visas of non-citizens who commit the egregious thought crime of supporting Palestinian rights. The Senate has already passed a resolution slandering college students who protest for Palestinian rights as anti-Semites and now the House is considering a bill to expel all Palestinians from the United States.
